Working alongside his father-in-law, Pedro Hernandez, one of the founders of Hernandez Plumbing, Rafael became a key part of the company’s growth during Miami’s rapid development in the 1970s. Around that same time, he met his wife, Lourdes Hernandez, and joined the family business, helping expand what would become one of South Florida’s most trusted plumbing companies.

During the early years, Rafael played an important role in helping Pedro teach plumbing courses designed to help other plumbers pass the state licensing exam.
